Bioclon Institute

For the development of new products, the Institute works with laboratories and institutions in Morelos (Morelos State University), Nuevo León (University of Nuevo León), and Veracruz (Octolab); and on an international level, with France (Research Development Institute (Institute de la Recherche pour le Developement)) and the United States (Arizona University, Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center, Denver,CO).

The Bioclon Institute invested 23.4% of its sales in research and development in 2004, which is a model for the Mexican pharmaceutical industry.

Antivenoms manufactured by Bioclon are not only differentiated by quality and price, but also for being free of all viral load and for production processes that have generated significant improvements ¾ being more flexible and economical than those made by competitors as a result of not requiring refrigeration.

These competitive advantages have been achieved through the development of a strategic plan that includes the identification of market niches based on high value-added products; hence, the definition of the technology plan. See Regionalization Map

In addition, the Bioclon Institute's technology plan has been implemented through a financing strategy that combines the Institute's own investments with resources from governmental institutions through agreements with:

- The National Science and Technology Board (El Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología) (México)

- The Commerce Secretary (La Secretaría de Economía) (México)

- The Food and Drug Administration (United States)

Products that are currently being developed are:

- Antivipmyn in north Africa and middle east

- Alacramyn in north Africa and middle east
