As part of their procedures, the Bioclon Institute owns the intellectual and industrial property rights for all inventions in which it has participated and those that emerge from new projects. The Institute has a broad and growing portfolio of patents as well as trademarks, resulting in the creation of a new department within the company, that works closely with the legal department, dedicated specifically to aspects related to intellectual property rights.

Currently, the fabotherapics and inventions derived from the Bioclon Institute's manufacturing process, as well as their intrinsic properties, are protected with patents granted by the United States of America and Mexico, and have rights pending in the rest of the world. In countries that are marketing partners, each product has its own registered trademark.

Bioclon Institute's new projects can be developed independently or in collaboration with other institutions or researchers. These new projects include a parallel program for making decisions as to the locations and timeframes for initiating each patent process, or for licensing of inventions whose patent titles have already been granted and include collaborators as patent holders. These licenses are included in the patent portfolio, requiring follow-up during the period of time in which the rights are applicable.

The patents are reported as Bioclon Institute assets due to the Institute's exclusivity in decision-making with respect to any aspect associated with the use and marketing of its inventions. In addition, registered trademarks have differentiated their products for the high quality and safety they provide to users.
